About the Director

Jacklyn Keagy is in her 27th year as play and musical director at Dover Area High School (DAHS). In her tenure, she has directed over 50 productions, including most recently, AnnieLes MiserablesJoseph and the Amazing Technicolor DreamcoatCharlie and the Chocolate Factory, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Up the Down Staircase.  

As a full-time faculty member at DAHS, she has taught Drama, Public Speaking and English. She is also a class advisor, director of the school's theatrical troupe The Traveling Players, and a founding member of the Rosies, a showcase for York County scholastic theatre programs. 

Prior to coming to DAHS, was on the artistic staff of William Penn Performing Arts Institute.

As an actor, she has appeared in over twenty productions at York Little Theatre and other community-based theatrical organizations.She has also directed several productions in York community theatre.

Mrs. Keagy is a graduate of Kutztown University with a degree in Speech and Theatre and earned teaching certification in Communication Arts from York College. She also has a Master’s degree in Education from Pennsylvania State University. 

George Bradshaw
Orchestra Director

George has been conducting the pit orchestra for Dover High School musicals for the past 22 years. He has also performed in pit orchestras at Mansfield University, Fauquier County Performing Art Society, York Little Theater and Orangemite Studios.

In addition to his conducting responsibilities at Dover, Mr. Bradshaw is the conductor of the Columbia VFW Concert Band. A community band of nearly 50 musicians ranging in age from 15 – 84, that performs 25 concerts throughout the year. Mr. Bradshaw is also Jazz Band director for Youth Music Abroad. This select group of 120 high school students travels throughout Europe performing at concert venues in Paris, Rome, Luzerne and Florence.  

Amy Jans
  Assistant Director

Amy has been the Assistant Director for the Dover Musical for 6 years. She has a background in dance and choreography. Amy assists the director, Mrs. Keagy, with actor biographies, costumes, dancing, blocking, and administrative duties. 

Amy is not the only member of the Jans family who is involved in the Dover Musicals. Her husband, David Jans, helps with the construction of the sets and stage management. All 3 of Amy's children have been involved in the Dover Musical's also. She also has a helping hand in her mother, Anita Wiedenhaefer, who is the show seamstress. 

Amy enjoys the sense of family that being involved in the theater brings! 

Andy Apgar
Vocal Director

Andy has been the vocal director of the Dover Area High School musicals for the past 18 years. He has also played piano/keyboard in the pit orchestra for the past 22 musical performances.  As a full-time faculty member at the Dover Area Intermediate School, he directs the 7th, 8th and Select Choirs, and teaches all 7th grade students General Music.  

Andy cherishes the relationships, cooperation and teamwork that has developed throughout the years with the musical staff and the many participants. He also appreciates the boundless support of his wife (Teresa), son (Ian) and daughter (Avery).
